Three crossings operate to the Island, it is essential to book in advance in the summer and on popular weekends, at other times it is advisable however you can turn up on spec and you will get on a ferry if you are prepared to wait. Both operators usually run offers on there web site so its worth a look before you book!

     
Wight Link Portsmouth - Fishbourne   Wight Link Lymington - Yarmouth
     

Portsmouth is easily accessible from the M27/M275 You have to make your way through Portsmouth itself to find the Ferry Terminal, leave plenty of time for this particularly at peak times. The ferry runs every 1/2 hour almost 24/7 and crosses to Fishbourne which is on the North side of the island just east of Cowes. Crossing time is approximately 45 minutes. Use this crossing for the main holiday areas on the east side such as Bembridge, Sandown and Shanklin.

 

To get to Lymington you have to exit at Jct 1 of the M27 and drive through the New Forest. Allow an hour to get through the New Forest during the summer weekends or Bank Holiday weekends. The ferry runs every 1/2 hour to an hour and the crossing time is approximately 35 minutes. Use this crossing for the West side of the island.

Red Funnel Ferries Southampton - Cowes    
     

To locate the ferry terminal you have to drive through Southampton so allow some extra journey time for this. The crossing is approximately 60 Minutes and takes you to East Cowes this crossing is also suitable for the main holiday areas on the east side such as Bembridge, Sandown and Shanklin.
